You have Bistro Corlise leaving, but you don't have Joolz taking its place.
Don't forget Master's and St. Claire and JC Penney's leaving. That was a real blow this month. Oh, that's right. That was last millenium.
My point is for your list to be relevant, you really should put a timeline on it. New biz in the past six months, closures in the past six months. Otherwise the list has no meaning and is just a shrill exercise.
No offense to Ruth, but listing Painted Pony as part of list of closures two years after it closed is meaningless.
If you put that criteria on the list, it'd look more like this:
Moving in:
Joolz
Zydeco
King of Sole
Luxe
Powell's
Dudley's
Goldsmith
Game Domain
Subway
Happy Nails
Lulu's
Bend Bungalow
Moving on:
Santee Alley
Bistro Corlies
Made in Hawaii
EnVogue
Stewart Weinmann
Kebanu
Pella
Deep
Merenda
Volo
I took out the Blue Teal, Book Barn, and Painted Pony, and Sweatheart Donuts.
The original timeline was Fall of 2008, and the downtown core.
I think it's equally misleading to show a 'new' store occupying a space, without mentioning the store they took the place of....
I've also included businesses that have been announced but not yet opened, which balances out the slightly long in the tooth absences.
Don't see any point in including LuLu's, Bungalow or King of Sole, since they just moved.
Zydeco is a move, but it's moving from outside downtown. Does that count?
What's taking the place of the Speedshop deli? They applied for a liquor license.
I think a bar called Lux, or something. I'll wait until it's announced.....
Let's hope Speedshop becomes a bar called Lux or maybe more appropriately Lux Interior.
Can SOMEONE please tell me what perspective we gain from this exercise?
I have to have a perspective?
Thanks for giving this list, its very helpful.

I don't know if it counts as "downtown," but Downtown Doggie is closing the retail store and going to web and festival only.
