Toughened rules for events? yeah, right.....

What I take away from the article on road closures and noise complaints. (Bend May Toughen Rules For Events.) The Bulletin, 7/26/11.

1.) Gosh, golly, gee -- a city councilor and a city planning commissioner got 'inconvenienced' so they are going to get paid some lip service.

2.) "Warnings" as a solution. Whatever. Telling me something is going to be inconvenient doesn't make it less so.

3.) They won't be having any hard rock shows at Troy Field.

4.) None of the participants sound like they want to change anything much -- mostly looks like a P.R. campaign to smooth the complaints. When it dies down, it will be business as usual.

5.) Walk a mile in my shoes. The shoe is on the other foot. I loved the remark by Cameron Clark at the end of the article "...the art wasn't interested in what we had to say."

Well, exactly, Cameron. Pretty much what I've been saying about YOU and YOUR events for years....You set up wherever and whenever and however you want, not making any attempt to make it easier for my store.

6.) It wasn't long ago that the city councilors decided they could abrogate the rules as they see fit. So go ahead and make more rules. As long as the event cloaks itself as a "worthy" cause, they will get the go-ahead.

7.) It won't change until it becomes so overwhelmingly destructive that even the timid citizens and business owners rise up. And of course, there will always be the caveat for "existing events." So even then, not much will change. Personally, I think we went beyond the useful number of events years ago.

8.) Nothing will change. Events will be added, lengthened, made bigger and noisier. If the majority like it, the minority can suck eggs.

The city will sell city streets and parks as long as they can 'rent' public land and fill their pockets with cash. Enough said.

The event folks pay for the private cops, aka security guards.

Property taxes go to county, and now aren't being paid.

'events' are one of the few ways for city to get quick cash for sex and drugs, ... and vice, ... and donuts, ... fill the city slush fund for cash, condoms for city judges, and fudge bars for staff.

Thus 'events' will continue as bend declines into worse&worse Saddam and Gomorrah.

I concur the BULL is just placating the complainers. Secondly 'events' is the ONLY fucking way the city can lure suckers to Bend, who just maybe might buy condos that city has for sale. Let's not forget that the majority of city-council are still Real-Estate whores whether they're CPA's, lawyers, mtg, ... or realtors.

Orson Welles' character in the 1958 movie “A Touch of Evil” says, “A policeman's job is only easy in a police state.” That line is often cited when issues of police policy come before the public.

Why is dunc obsessed with making the police job easier for cop's in Bend? Why is dunc a war monger? Why?

Does he really think the Bend Police Department can help him sell more comics?

Why does dunc support Obama's war mongering? Is dunc really a closet rePuglican?

OREO will...

1.) Destroy social security, medicare, and all else public DOLE. Leaving non-government employees to grovel & beg for food.

2.) Start wars in Pakistan, supply bombs to Israel to bomb Iran next month.

3.) In order to contain china OREO will start a war in the South Asian ocean off vietnam, because the OREO government cannot accept CHINA having access to oil.

4.) Steal all social-security trust fund money, and transfer it to public-union, aka cop-fund pensions.

Mark Twain said that 'truth is stranger than fiction', I say that the US government is stranger than comic books.

China's regional allies in this global struggle are Pakistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Angola, Russia, Palestine and (indirectly through Pakistan) a Taliban-controlled Afghanistan. US allies are NATO, India, Israel and Iraq (thanks to permanent US military installations in Iraq).

***

So WWIII has started. Above you can see who is on what side.
This war with China has one good effect, we can cancel their debt. Or default is a better word.

The BRIC's of course support China. Australia supports China, and Canada.

So this new war leaves only Europe (NATO), Israel, USA versus the rest of the world.

The US/EUROPE is broke, of course this is why the US is so quick trying to STEAL the worlds OIL, note right now, Israel creates havoc in NORWAY where all N-EURO oil comes from. US invades Libya best oil in the world for jet fighters, low sulfur. China needs the afghan/pakistan cooridor to pipeline mid-east oil to Tibet, ... but not going to happen with US occupation of east-asia.

So like a GRAND game of poker the US is betting the farm, on a last minute grab of oil. But the down side is their broke, and nobody wants the US dollar. Nobody wants the EURO.

All dying empires do crazy shit at the 11th hour. Welcome to WWIII.

Outcome my guess is the rest of the world 'contain' europe&usa&israel, and get on with their lives.

Why doesn't DEM or PUG mention where the money really goes?? To CLONE-WAR's

The problem is that it's being represented to be a grave problem. The solution of which is to destroy the social safety net. They don't mention taxes, and they don't mention wars. The military budget and the wars account for 75 percent of the American budget deficit.

They also want to extend the hours for concerts at The Schwab. That would really suck for people who live within earshot -- many of whom were living there LONG before anybody talked about putting an outdoor concert venue in the vicinity. They deserve consideration, but my guess is the advocates for later concerts will win out in the end.

"Special events" have indeed proliferated in this town to the point that they're not special anymore. But the problem isn't so much that there are too damn many fiestas and festivals and concerts, etc., etc., but that they're all crammed into our pitiful two-month window of good-weather opportunity.
