Anybody here play board games like Settlers of Catan, Carcassone, or Ticket to Ride as a family or couple?

If not, anyone play games like Monopoly or Risk as a family?

Had a writer for Bend Living in who was doing an article on "Family Game Night." I told her all about the European games, but couldn't come up with any names. I just sell them and they walk out the door.

Still, my store might get mentioned if she can find anyone who plays.

Her e-mail is lewishusk@bendcable.com Her name is Lee Lewis Husk.

Put in a good word for us.

We play dominoes a lot. Well, we did before we packed them in one of the multitude of boxes.

We play cribbage and backgammon. The boys play Risk and chess. We also play a lot of card games (like Loot or Uno).

But we also have a dart board and a foosball table - and use them frequently. Does that count?

Yeah, both of you. The thrust of the article is families playing games, I was just trying to get her to look at the Euro games. Contact her by all means.

I have been in email contact with Lee, and I'll be talking with her on Monday.

I am very interested in board games of all sorts, especially Eurogames. You have a pretty good selection at your store -- I didn't realize that any store in Bend carried Eurogames since Gambit Games went down last year.

If there is anybody here interested in playing these really great games, get in touch with our little group of enthusiasts at http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/COGames/.

Also, look at www.boardgamegeek.com, or if you like rummy/card games, buy "Ticket to Ride", if you like dominoes, buy "Carcassone", and if you are drawn to dice games, buy "Settlers of Catan," all available at your your friendly and local Pegasus Books. All these are common gateway games into the world of Eurogames.

Cool. I was hoping for a result like that.

I'm going to try to stock up for Christmas, especially the 3 games you mentioned. Spread the word!

Thanks

Hi Mark! Hi Duncan! Lee is supposed to be calling me tonight about the same article, and I won't be at home like I thought - and I don't have her(?) email with me. So I got on here to try and google it a this is what I found. Nice blog. Funny thing is that Mark is here too. I just played a game called "Twilight Struggle" with Mark on Thursday, and we do get together to play Euro, German, War, American-style...whatever you call any of them type games. The more niche "gamer's games" type games, although the more popular games can still be fun too. It's just that not many people know about the games you carry Duncan, so any help on getting the word out is great. And those who do know "the word" have a hard time sometimes assimilating. So, it is good to meet you, look forward to talking to Lee, and I'll try to stop by your store sometime. You're invited to any of our game sessions. Stop by the Yahoo Groups site that Mark mentioned and let's get together sometime. Cheers!
