Downtown Comings and Goings. 3/22/12.

High Desert Gallery is gone. Clutch is moving into Tres Jolie: by the internal rules of this list, I have to include this as a Going.

More stuff going on, but I'll wait for confirmation.

LATER: Rather than post a new list, I've added Letzer's Deli to this list as 'Going.'

It didn't occur to me that there would be so much musical chairs downtown, or I might have started a "moving" list at the same time.

Goldsmith has moved to Oregon Av., Sports Vision to Wall, and the Antiquarian to Wall (north).

Third closure for High Desert Gallery. Opened and closed in Redmond, Sisters, and now Bend. I can't imagine people having a ton of disposable income right now to buy fine art. Exept perhaps you, Duncan. And you can't find any fine art that you deem worthy of spending your hard earned money on, anyway.

Yeah, I love customers who are only looking for the very "best" -- which means, they don't really ever have to buy anything because their standards are so high they'll never be met.

Anyone who comes in looking for "Older Mint" cards or "Older Mint" Golden age comics is never going to buy anything, for instance. It's never happened in 30 years.

I could conceivably walk in a gallery someday and see the exact image in my head and see that it's on "sale" and have had a really good week at the store and....

Yeah, probably won't happen.

Customers like me are a pain in the ass...

Just got the VERY sad news Letzer's last day in business will be Friday, March 22. Reason stated: too expensive to stay in business.

Lord this town brings me down sometimes...

Letzer's was good, but the location was terrible. I didn't figure they would last there.

I was sad when Letzer's closed their Division St. space not too long ago (south end of town). It was kind of a funky spot, too, but fairly easy access, plus parking. I was waiting to get a cold to try their chicken soup. Darn! [But glad for lack of illness.]

I'd never been to Letzer's. I don't go downtown anymore. Too many Calis. So I looked Letzer's up and found a website that was, "Under Construction." Funny how many wanna be business people will spend time on business cards, stationary, mission statements, websites, computer systems, logos, facebook pages, etc., etc. Seems they ought to spend all that extry time just plain working. Not saying that was Letzer's downfall, but it's been the downfall of many others.

So when does an "Under Construction" web site equal spending time on anything other than work? I agree with your statement but it not doesn't apply with Letzer's. They didn't spend money on fluff.
