So Walmart and Target have figured out that selling Kindles might be the equivalent of sending their customers to their biggest competitor:
...Amazon.
Now if Barnes and Noble could just figure out that selling Nooks is the equivalent of sending their customers to their biggest competitor:
...Barnes and Noble.
Wait. That can't be right.

I still think Barnes & Noble is smart to market the Nook. They figured out that they're in the book-selling business, not the paper-selling business. If the newspaper industry had seen itself as being in the information-selling business instead of the paper-selling business it wouldn't be in such terrible shape today. The important thing is the product sold, not the form in which it's sold.
I suppose that's true, but to my mind it's a different business altogether.
A brick and mortar store isn't the same thing as a online seller. Just as theaters aren't the movie makers.
But to me it's like saying, Hey! You could sell these-here widgets and make more money.
Well, no doubt there are are many things that could make me more money.
But I'd no longer be a bookstore.
Well the flip side over here in Asia is that the USA walmarts will become manufacturing centers for low cost USA made product post civil-war-2 (2013-2014) survivors.
The purchasing power tomorrow will be in Asia, and the manufacturing in the USA, the world largest prison colony, and low wage manufacturing center. That's the game plan that all here in Singapore are betting on.
The reality is that chinese purchasing power is rising so quickly that soon it will be cheaper to have USA wage slaves manufacture.
The reality of tablet devices is most people don't 'read' they watch TV. Everything is movie to the always on, always with you and watching you content delivery system. Advertising revenue such that GOOGLE see's is the envy of the world.
I think most interesting is that APPLE won the lawsuit, but that FUCK is only that USA assholes can't buy SAMSUNG, which is now kicking ass on the over-priced and less technology advanced iPhone. Most asian don't have kindles, they have 'galaxys'. Better product, and much cheaper, and USA courts of ruled the USA citizens to be stuck in the high-tech dark ages with APPLE.
Not unlike the USA phone system over 100 years old and still crippling the USA infrastructure, while the world moves ahead the USA courts keep the US public in the SHIT.
Miss you dunc, ... love you, now living in Burma, enjoying the best fastest growing economic powerhouse in the world.
How is fucking Bend real estate?
One last comment boyz, cuz you all remind of ostriches,
NOBODY on the fucking earth cares a fucking SHIT about USA copyright or trademark laws.
In asia which is 90% of world market for all fucking purchasing power, folks have tablet's, generic machines that display all content for fucking free.
ONLY in the fucking USA prison state are you fucking forced to buy locked boxes like an iPhone, or a Kindle, ... or NOOK.
Stupid fucking prison technology, for a stupid country, full of stupid fucking people.
Have I become 'hostile' to the USA 'free market system or what', .. guess what over here in Asia, I'm living free market economics, you assholes in the USA simply debate whose slave collars are more decorated and/or sexy.
The USA is going down and hard, just because its a NATION of bamboozled morons the rest of the world wants no fucking part of the USA 'business model'.
"I suppose that's true, but to my mind it's a different business altogether."
It IS. It's not Barnes & Noble sending their business to Barnes & Noble, it's Barnes & Noble Booksellers sending their business to BN.com. It was made very clear to us when I worked there that they were COMPLETELY separate businesses. It might as well be Amazon.
"Amazon is going to crush you."
"Uh,uh, I'm going to crush myself before you can crush me!!!
"Take that, competitor!"
That guy says fuck a lot. Just fucking sayin'...
That be Buster.
