Such as it is.

True Blood was truly gnarly last night.

True Blood won't Jump the Shark, it will kill and eat it.

Watchmen -- flop.

Kick Ass -- a flop.

Scott Pilgrim -- flop.

On the same weekends, excremental pieces of crap like Transformers 2 and Expendables are big hits.

I give up. Real comics are never going to get out of the ghetto, are they? Batman and Spider-man? These are icons more than actual comics to most people.

Re.Google and Net Neutrality.

Big surprise. All corporations become evil.

"It's my nature," said the Scorpion.

Had a super slow weekend. Bring back the events!

Just kidding. Just kidding.

Anyway, my inclination is to order just the Evergreens for the next few weeks -- and save up for a giant order in mid-Sept. that would carry us through to Christmas. This would give me a chance to make the changeover to the bookshelves in the "off" season, around Sept. 10 or so.

Another one of the industry Bulletin Boards I belong to is falling apart through internal conflict.

They tend to break up into ever smaller and less useful pieces. A couple have spun off "Professional" sites dedicated to "members" and are more exclusive.

Funny. I've changed my mind about exclusivity. When these retail organizations first opened up to other professionals (wholesalers, publishers, writers, etc.) I was sort of against it.

Despite this diversity, group think eventually set in, making the opinions and judgments of the contributors more bullying and less valuable.

I suspect, from who quickly abandoned the more open sites to join the 'exclusive' sites, that this problem is probably even worse over there.

Too bad. Small groups rarely hold together in long run.

Scoff Pilgrim was some of the most fun I've seen on the big screen in a long time.

I enjoyed the first book a lot, though I think it's really for guys younger than I am who are hip to video games.

They're talking about a San Diego Con 'Serenity' curse.

And yes, I'm aware that Serenity and -- it appears as of now -- Kick Ass are HUGE secondary hits, it's AFTER THE FACT.

That is, the impression of flop will keep further movies being made of those franchises.

But, it's nothing new. I remember liking the Rocketeer, and having it go nowhere.

A real asshole would probably see this as a buying opportunity for GOOG, but IMHO I really think this coming year will see a complete econ collapse, and of course interest rates will go up soon the BOND market will collapse and that is really going to hurt a lot of people.

First they lost a 1/3 on dot-com, then a 1/3 on housing, and then the BOND market 1/3, and then its zero income and equity.

Interesting times. But google? IMHO they have already seen the best of times and expectations. Doesn't mean they will not continue to BUY the world and CONTROL the world,

yep google is $160B cap, and verizon is only a little $80B cap,

so google buy's verizon, and google OWNS the internet,

do away with 'net-neutral' before the purchase, and never fear competition, and in theory the value of the company becomes infinite,

me thinks this smells a little like when time-warner bought AOL, .. but all us technies knew that AOL sucked dick, and soon techies will abandon google,

Verizon does indeed own the Internet...when they acquired MCI/Worldcom they acquired the MAEs...as such they control the Internet. Their worldwide holdings also include major MAEs around the globe not just the USA...Google absolutely wants that control. Then its on to DC Comics and then PEGASUS and then the WORLD! ...or is it the world then Pegasus then DC Comics...anywho...they want to exert a little double plus good on everyone at their earliest convenience.

Yeah, if you grew up with a NES/SNES or Sega Genesis, then Scott Pilgrim makes a lot more sense.

If you grew up with Scott Pilgrim, you probably need an enema.
