My wife had a dream where she was pulling out into the road, after looking both ways, but a police car comes out of nowhere.

Sarah Palin and John McCain are in the car, and Sarah wags her finger at Linda.

The kicker is, "Sarah was driving the car."

Apparently, Palin dreams are pretty common. Slate has a whole article about it.

Funny thing. I was quite content to let McCain and Obama thrash it out.

But Palin just raises all my hackles.

She seems self-righteous, and a know-nothing.

And her mocking speech which so galvanized her followers, turned me into the figure in the cartoon.

Dunc, Jim Cornelius has a good post over on the Nugget Blog about the topic of political discussion. I find him spot on and it's worth a read. He is a breath of fresh air in the news editor world too.

I suspect he's at least a lurker around these parts.

The Republicans are crowing about how Palin has energized the 'base.'

But you have to wonder if she hasn't galvanized an equal number of people like me who were more or less sitting it out.

Our country is in such bad shape that we can't afford to have someone like Palin in charge.

McCain, or Obama, or Biden...I could live with all those.

Palin?

Shudder.

Or for that matter Romney or Clinton or Guliani.

They are all people of substance.

Like I said, we have plenty of former mayors of Bend floating around who could be V.P.

But Bend is 12 times bigger, so they'd be overqualified.

You heard the man.

Be civil.

Don't make me muzzle ya.

Will following your logic Jimmy Carter was a peanut farmer and then became President so all peanut farmers should be the same.

Or Harry Truman ran a clothing store so all clothing store managers.

Now all small town Mayors who moved up to be elected governor of a state might be a more realistic statement, but then again the set of people that met that criteria is probably pretty small. Probably about the same size as people the number of people who got nominated for President by one of the two major parties, while in their first term of a Federal Office.

Now if there is a standard template for the road to the Presidency with a descriptions of the standard resume is does not seem that many follow it.

Interesting how the polls are showing that since the Democrates have been attacking Palin's level of experience the polls have started to reflect a widening gap in McCains favor on the question of his experience vs Obama's. Kind of boomerang effect. Not quite what they hoped.

Yes, he was a peanut farmer, but he also was an Annapolis grad, a Navy officer, a state legislator for six years and governor of Georgia for four years.

"Or Harry Truman ran a clothing store so all clothing store managers."

Yes, he once ran a clothing store, but he also was a captain in the Army in WWI and served in the Missouri state legislature and two terms in the US Senate.

Classic Republican tactic: Take a small part of the other side's argument and attack that while ignoring all the rest.

But his did not mention other experience only the small town mayor aspect. Yes Carter was a state politician and Governor.

That is why if you notice I said that a better qualification was small town mayor who also became governors. Just as you pointed out the correct comparison for Jimmy Carter is peanut farmer who was also a state governor. So just as the peanut farmer experience was an incomplete comparison so was the all small town mayor comparison.

If I followed you logic I could say normal democratic attack take a comment out of context and ignore the rest of the statement.

You know the context of
following your logic ...

Now all small town Mayors who moved up to be elected governor of a state might be a more realistic statement.
